The barnyard gets the red carpet treatment

The Other Side Movement and Arts To Literacy hosted a Red Carpet celebration for the kids of Coconut Grove Cares, The Barnyard. The event was held at Miami’s City Hall and featured District 2 Commissioner Marc Sanoff as the Key Note Speaker. The students were a part of the Other Side Movement Choose Life advertisement campaign.
8 students involved in the Choose Life project wrote, directed, shot and starred in four Public Service Announcements that will be aired on local television. The PSA’s were premiere during the evening and each student was presented with an award for his or her involvement with the project. The awards were replicas of the famous Oscar and range from Best Actor to Best Sound Technician.
The evening came to an end with a heart wrenching testimony from Mr. Barney Brown. He told his story about how making a wrong choice caused him 38 years of his life for a crime he did not commit.

Arts To Literacy and The Other Side Movement plans to team up again with Coconut Grove Cares the Barnyard to
implement the second phase of the program where the students write and publish their very own book. The new program is scheduled to start in November.
